Wetland Determination & Delineation

Once a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment has indicated the presence of wetland areas, more in-depth investigation is warranted. Nash Environmental Services performs Wetland Determination & Delineation site inspections, which consist of a meticulous examination of the entire tract of land, marking waypoints, identifying plants species, and digging soil pits. The data collected is used to create a base map to delineate between wetland and upland areas, and a detailed report is prepared to the specifications of the latest United States Army Corps of Engineers Welands Delineation Manual.

Some of the clients for whom NES have performed Wetland Determination & Delineation inspections include:

  • Niles Chemical
  • Texas A&M University
  • Arkansas Game & Fish Commission

Wetland Mitigation / Permitting

NES has provided mitigation of wetland areas for a local client. This work included close interaction with representatives of the US Army Corps of Engineers as well as with other state and local government officials, and the preparation of a comprehensive report. This report was submitted to the US Army Corps of Engineers for approval, and federal permits were issued to the client.

Cultural Resources

Before state agencies can build on new sites, federal regulations require them to have cultural resource surveys conducted to ensure there have not been significant archealogical sites on the property before construction begins. NES performed a cultural resource survey for Texas A&M University–Texarkana on the site scheduled to become the new college campus.

NES provided this service using experienced archaelogists, who performed shovel tests and researched the history of the site, working in tandem with the Texas Historical Commission.

Archealogical Testing and Plan Design

NES archeologists can perform further investigation of significant archeological sites by excavating certain areas and sifting through the various layers of soil for artifacts, which are then classified and dated.

Endangered Species, Habitat, and Vegetation Evaluations

NES performs Endangered Species Evaluations in accordance with federal regulations, which require state agencies to ensure there are no endangered species on property before construction begins.

NES also perform habitat and biological species evaluations, consulting with biologists and conducting on-site investigations during the different seasons of the year. Additionally, we perform limited vegetative surveys, consisting of measuring tree diameter, calculation of canopy size, and tree classification.
